Sherman Garnett, a board member on the San Bernardino County Office of Education, is the 2018 Vice President of the California County Boards of Education. He is a veteran public school education (42 years) and has served in various roles ranging from teacher, athletic coach, dean, assistant principal, principal and administrator of child welfare and attendance. Currently, Mr. Garnett serves as an adjunct professor of education in the educational leadership division at Cal State San Bernardino specializing in the areas of teacher evaluation and school law as well as conducting trainings statewide specializing in child welfare and attendance issues.
For the past fourteen years, he has served in an appointed position as a member of the California State School Attendance Review Board by the state superintendent of public instruction.
Additionally, Mr. Garnett has served as statewide president of the California Association of Supervisors of Child Welfare and Attendance and has continued his involvement as an executive board member.
Mr. Garnett was elected to the San Bernardino County Board of Education in November 2014 and served as board president during the past year. His fellow board members in a unanimous decision re-elected him to continue as board president for the 2018 school year.
